The GIS (Italian Lifting Days) exhibition in Piacenza took place at the same time as the publication of an editorial on Padoan in the magazine ‘We are access equipment’.

The focus: the range of solutions developed by Padoan to effectively meet the requirements of applications in multiple fields. The article gives broad coverage to lifting, highlighting the potential and opportunities also linked to the world of rental. Here is the full text of the article by the ‘We are access equipment’ team:

Continuous innovation surrounds the vehicle and lifting machinery industry.

This leads to a redefinition of systems in detail, creating new layouts and seeking to maximise efficiency.

In this context, hydraulic oil, the driving force behind lifting applications, must find its place by ensuring maximum effectiveness and performance.

Let’s see how Padoan, whose vertical specialisation translates into being a true #tankspecialist, is tackling this increasingly competitive market.

Integration into the design process

Increasingly limited space and the pursuit of maximum production/logistics efficiency are behind the current ‘make or buy’ trend among many major manufacturers. The Padoan team is increasingly involved by market players in the integration of its tanks during the design process of machines and systems. This allows manufacturers and fitters to optimise space through solutions produced with serial quality thanks to industrialised production standards, easily integrating them into their lifting systems. A further advantage is the ability to easily manage production batches and supplies that are more dynamic than market trends. Optimal delivery times, customisation and R&D team consulting are constantly available to achieve maximum efficiency.

The right tank for every application

In this challenging scenario, characterised by a multitude of needs and opportunities, Padoan has established a strong position with its segmentation dedicated to a wide range of applications: aerial platforms, hooklifts and cranes are just some of the areas of interest. The aim is to provide confidence and technical support, including know-how regarding application requirements, acting as a partner rather than just a supplier. In this context, therefore, working alongside designers and technicians on a daily basis is essential for creating added value.

The latest innovation, introduced at recent exhibitions, is certainly the 90-litre TLINE 85/18 tank with “shelf” mounting kit. Its compactness and ease of installation allow for optimal use of space in a variety of systems, with a specific focus on hooklifts to allow for maximum depth for hook positioning.

Best sellers and new developments

The 36/26 family is the most compact, suitable for machinery with hydraulic systems requiring between 30 and 50 litres of fluid. Aerial platforms, both vehicle-mounted and self-propelled, fit into this category, and the mounting kit incorporated into the tank ensures quick fastening on flat surfaces. The horizontal 26/36 version is also available in the catalogue, in both painted steel and aluminium, for easy mounting on the frame side. Continuing the topic of installation efficiency, another solution is represented by the DUAL range, a range of tanks designed to be installed on the side or on a flat surface by simply replacing the mounting kit. This is also convenient in terms of warehouse management for players who have to meet different needs depending on the installation required. A plus also in terms of stock management for specialists who have to meet different requirements depending on the installation involved.

From aerial platforms to cranes, continuous efficiency is undeniably a key factor, and the most suitable tank is the T20, a best seller in an even more specialised version, designed specifically for vehicle-mounted cranes. Thanks to its distinctive design, it optimises the use of the application while facilitating maintenance thanks to its 20° inclined surface (hence the name of the tank), which makes it easier to replace the filter cartridge, an essential operation for preserving the life of the tank and the quality of the fluid.

Components, parts and maintenance

When discussing solutions, attention to detail is essential, optimising the time spent on acquiring system parts and installation. This refers to adapters, valves, filters and the entire range of components available in the Padoan catalogue, allowing you to find everything you need in a single solution.

Similarly, systems, especially the more complex ones, require proper maintenance, primarily in the form of cartridge replacement. The Padoan catalogue offers a wide range of cartridges, depending on the filter and the filler cap with air breather.

Optimising range and space

Lifting applications are mostly autonomous in terms of daily working hours. In many cases, this means that additional fuel tanks or tanks with a larger capacity than the original ones are required. The same approach, but with an even more specific mission, identifies the combined tanks that combine the oil and diesel compartments in a single tank body, thus ensuring vehicle autonomy and optimising space, which is crucial in many cases. Both the diesel range and the combined range are UNECE34 Part III approved, representing an easy-to-install and easy-to-use plug&play solution. The diesel tanks are available in multiple sections from 60 to 960 litres, while the combined tanks offer capacities from 125 to 700 litres of diesel and from 90 to 200 litres of hydraulic oil.

Supporting rental

When talking about lifting applications, we often refer to the world of rental. The point remains the same: it is crucial that maintenance and downtime are reduced to a minimum, even if operating behaviour is not always optimal.

Padoan places great emphasis on service continuity, designing and manufacturing tanks using cutting-edge techniques and technologies, from moulding the base to robotic welding, ensuring serial quality and resistance to continuous stress.

Likewise, each tank is tested for airtightness through a machine with pneumatic vacuum technology combined with micro-leak sensors. The result is a range of tanks that guarantee maximum efficiency in demanding and challenging conditions, typical of the lifting world, even in off-road and off-grid scenarios. Every component and process is dedicated to providing value and emphasising applications.
